General information only
The content on FirstPaws, including articles and calculators, is for general information and education. It is not a substitute for advice from a qualified professional who knows your specific situation.
Health and nutrition guides are written against published guidance from the AAHA, WSAVA and AVMA. They are general information, not a substitute for advice from your own veterinarian.
Calculators
Our tools use widely published formulas to give a reasonable starting estimate. Individual needs vary, and results should be checked with a professional and adjusted over time.
Emergencies
If you think there is an emergency, contact an appropriate professional or emergency service immediately. Do not wait for an online answer.
Accuracy
We research and review our guides carefully and update them when guidance changes, but we cannot guarantee that every page is complete or current at all times. Please let us know if you find an error.
Advertising and products
FirstPaws is not paid to recommend specific products or brands. Any advertising shown on the site is clearly separated from our editorial content.
